The NH Property Tax Problem Explained

Manny explains why the property taxes are too high in Farmington and New Hampshire, in general.  Manny knows the cause is the state's failure to properly fund education.  He shows an example of the effect our tax system has on towns and cities. The lack of state funding dowshifts the burden onto local property taxpayers. Send Manny to Concord so he can work to fix the situation and lower our taxes.

Mailer from the New Hampshire Democratic Party

If you didn't get the mailer from the New Hampshire Democratic Party, here it is for you to see.  It's a pretty good one with some of Manny's platform issues that starkly contrast with the other candidates, who do not support working families.

Raise the Minimum Wage

We have to raise the minimum wage.  When I had my first real job working maintenance at Brookshire Knitting Mills, the minimum wage was $1.25 per hour and a candy bar cost a nickel.  Now the minimum wage is $7.25 per hour and a smaller candy bar cost $1.80.  The candy bar has gone up to sixteen times what it was.  If the minimum wage had followed the candy bar index it would be $20 per hour.  Even if we do not match the candy bar index, the minimum wage has to go up.  No one who works full time should have to rely on government assistance.

The federal minimum wage hasn’t increased in a decade, but the prices of everything else has.
